Genius or Insanity?

Okay so Sony has this new game in development for the PS3. It's called "Eye of Judgment." It's a collectible card game like Magic the Gathering except that you use the PS3 and the eye-toy camera while you are playing. When you and your opponent play a card in the card game, the eye toy camera "recognizes" the card and the monsters battle it out ON THE TV SCREEN using the PS3! This is either the coolest or dumbest idea I've ever heard of. I'm not sure how many people can make the huge outlay of cash that would be required (PS3 + eyetoy + video game + cards), though then again lot's of people bought an IPhone so who knows. And I guess if you already own a PS3 and an eyetoy it's not that much. I doubt I'll buy it but I would like to try it out. Watch the video at the link above all the way through. The part at the very end is pretty impressive.

Do they still count as a "gang"?

Elanna and I were in Eureka Springs, Arkansas this past weekend for her Uncle's wedding. The wedding was very nice. It was supposed to be an outdoor wedding but, of course, it rained. That makes 3 outdoor weddings I've been too that had rain interfere. The wedding wasn't the excitement of the weekend though. Apparently, Eureka this past weekend was also the location for the National Hells Angels convention. There were literally hundreds of bikers everywhere. There were also were also lots of police, lots of police, FBI, State Troopers, AT, DEA. Elanna said that at one point it looked like they had raided the Hell's Angels hotel. An officer in plain clothes was holding what she described as a "very large rifle" in the parking lot. They also kept buzzing the entire town with helicopters, I guess to let everyone know they were there. Other than one slightly drunk biker that we encountered at the Grocery they seemed pretty tame to me. A lot of them looked like they had been in the Angels since the late 50's so I'm not sure how rowdy they could actually be.

New Bike

I got my new Bike yesterday, slightly more than I had originally budgeted to spend but it's exactly what I wanted.

All Carbon Frame and matching high quality brakes, gears, shifters, derailers. (Shimano Ultegra if you're into bikes)

I originally had shopped at Plano Cycling. That's where we bought Elanna's bike and they were very helpful. Unfortunately, the bike they had either weren't exactly what I wanted or didn't fit me all that well. We went over to Richardson Bike Mart and they had THE bike that had everything I wanted.

Here's a link to it on specialized webpage: Roubaix Expert Triple Gerolsteiner

And So it begins

I'm sure you'll all be glad to know that so far I am surviving the RPG withdrawals. This was the last "free" weekend for Elanna and I. This weekend we are headed to her Uncle's wedding in Arkansas, then we head out to Alaska for our cruise. After that we are home for one weekend, but I possibly her family is coming to visit that weekend. Then we head out for Europe for the Monketo Wedding and won't be back till Labor Day! Whew....

This past weekend was our last Bike Rally for a while, we did the Tour De Paris in Paris,TX. It was a lot of fun, we even shaved about 40 minutes off our best 40 mile time. Of Course, it was a little less hilly than the ride we did the week before in Weatherford.

Tomorrow, we are going bike Shopping. I've been riding Marc's old Touring Bike so far this summer, and it's a great Bike, but I really want a "new" bike and one that's little lighter.

RPG Withdrawals

My RPG group finished up the D&D campaign (BLUE STEEL!) that started back in January of 2006 last Wednesday. I think I'm already having withdrawals. There have been times in the past where we didn't play for a few weeks. I always knew in the back of my mind though that we would be getting back to it at some point and that was enough to stave off the addiction. Now it's done, at least for a few months and the monkey on my back is hitting me with a Dungeon Masters Guide. I need something to sate him. I have been playing World of Warcraft lately, but it's not quite the same. Playing World of Warcraft compared to a real RPG is like eating Fruit Loops instead of Steak. They're both good but you REALLY want the steak.

Thrakkorzog

Phlome mentioned this the other night at D&D and now I can't get it out of my head. So here it is, the genius of the Tick.

Tick: It's your turn now, Thorace-bog.
Thrakkorzog: It's Thrakkorzog. Thrakkorzog. With a K.
Tick: We're only serving humble pie, Whatchamazog.
Thrakkorzog: For the last time, it's...
Tick: Thorax-and-a-bog. Four-yacks-and-a-dog.
Thrakkorzog: No.
Tick: Ah, laxative-log.
Thrakkorzog: No, no, no.
Tick: Sapsucker-frog.
Thrakkorzog: Thrakkorzog.
Tick: Susan?
Thrakkorzog: Now you're doing it on purpose. How juvenile.

Bring the Rain!

whew! Busy Busy these past two weeks! Last week we were in Arkansas most of the Week for the 4th of July. This week I've been working late on a customer proposal and attending training. Last weekend we went to see Spamalot with friends. It was great. No famous actors like when we saw it in NYC, but I thought it was a great performance.

Sunday afternoon we went to see Transformers. It was good. I would definitely qualify it as a "kids" movie. The plot was a little silly, but you just can't beat giant robots pounding on each other. I especially liked the special forces team who had the attitude "Giant Robots from outer space? We can can take em."

Birthday!

The birthday bash on Saturday went really well. I thought so anyway, that opinion may not be shared by the people who may have drank a little too much. The rain stayed away so people were able to swim in the pool for a bit. The water was still a little cold. Thanks to Everyone for the gifts. I'm now all set for Biking, Reading, and ,listening to music. :)

I sat down to play my Xbox 360 yesterday and was greeted with the now infamous xbox ring of death. Yup, it's toast. Microsoft is fixing it for free, but still, I've had my PS2 and the original Xbox for over 4 years and they are fine. Seems like MS must have taken some manufacturing shortcuts to get the 360 out the door sooner.

The MT upgrade didn't go so well. I got the blog back up but comments aren't working.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
