Rain Rain Rain

I've never looked at the Weather Channel Interactive Weather map so much in my life. We are literally drowning here folks, I think we are approaching Biblical proportions of rain. I'm hoping it will ease up before the pool party Saturday but that's not watch predicted. Right now the forecast says "Isolated Storms" which means it's going to rain somewhere around the Metroplex they're just not sure where.

We went to the Police concert last night. It was pretty good. I had heard that they were "re-mixing" a lot of their old songs, which is of course never what us fans want. They did change a few of the old songs, some of them for the better actually, but for hte most part Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland were as good as ever.

The Blog may or may not have issues today. I'm upgrading to a new version of MT so we'll see how it goes.

Wacky Stuff

As Ninisi Pointed out my link to the wacky people from a few days ago didn't work. CNN up and changed the link on me. Here's the full story oh the wacky people who are refusing to pay their taxes, Branch Dividian Style.

And if you think that's wacky, check this out.

Car Wreck Photo

Here is the picture of the truck that smashed into our tree. He hit it pretty good.

I'm sure you know or as you can see from two entires ago , my car got rear ended two weeks ago. It's all fixed now but I'm still dealing with the insurance companies. Last week, someone decided to drive through the fence at Elanna's old house in Tulsa. Knocked the fence down, spun out in the backyard, sprayed mud all over the house, and drove off. No idea who did it until a guy and his teenage daughter show up last Sunday. He made her apologize and promised to pay for all the damages. So that's all taken care of now hopefully but wait there's more!

Monday, I'm working out before flying to St. Paul for the week when a hear a crash out front, followed by another crash right afterwards, only much much louder. I look out the window and see that a pickup has run into my front yard and plowed into a tree in my front yard. The tree was a good foot up into the hood of truck. Elanna got some good pictures, I'll try and post them later. There is also another smashed up car sitting in the street. The guy in the street was attempting a U-turn and went too far. The guy in the pick-up swerved to avoid him, ended up hitting him anyway and then slid into my yard. Both cards looked totaled but amazingly neither of them were hurt.

So now I have to call and talk to MORE insurance companies and figure out what they are going to do about the tree.

And you know, as wacky as all that is, it's not as wacky as these people.

New Office

I'm all moved into my new office here at work. They reduced the number of people that work in the building by quite a bit so they are "consolidating" those of us who are still here into fewer areas. I'm not completely happy with the new office, and when I say office, I mean cube. It's smaller than my old office but actually has more storage space. I don't mind the size so much, but the annoying part is that I'm now so far interior to the building that my cell phone doesn't work at all. I walked to the front of the building yesterday and immediately got 3 voicemails. I also feel like I work in a cave more than ever. My old area didn't have any windows, but you coudl walk around the corner and look out the front entrance. Now it's a ways to the nearest window. I'm sure this winter there will be days where I literally never see the sun.

We watched the Lost Season finale last night. Now THAT was a season finale! (Heroes writers take notes please.) I realize everyone else probably watched weeks ago but we're behind. Extended entry has my comments in case your even further behind than me.

I had just pulled out from work Tuesday evening and was about to turn left onto Hwy 820 in Fort Worth when someone slammed into me from behind. I don't know what the guy was doing but he didn't slow down at all, well until he hit me. More specifically he ht the bike rack that is attached to the rear of my car. It took the brunt of the crash but it did push the rack into my rear door crunching it and shattering the rear window. It also pushed me into the car in front of me. That really didn't do too much damage, to my car anyway. The car I was pushed into had some pretty good damage.

I wasn't all really, my back and neck hurt right afterwards but I haven't had any pain since then. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I might start feeling some pain in the next day or two, but so far I haven't.

Here some pictures of the damage. The insurance adjuster took them. I think he had the cheapest camera ever.

Biking

I traveled last week to Orange County, NY for work and with the Holiday on Moday I didn't have much time to blog. Little known fact, Orange County, NY is the actual home of Orange County Choppers, not Orange County, CA. I thought it was Orange County, CA myself. For those of you even less in the know than myself, OCC is featured on the show American Chopper on Discovery Channel. I did go by their store while I was there but not being into choppers myself I wasn't too impressed. They did have quite a few of the custom choppers on display, which were very cool, but I didn't feel the need to buy an OCC T-shirt or coffee mug.

Elanna, Marc and I did the Mesquite Rodeo Bike Rally this weekend. This was Elanna's first Rally and we had a lot of fun. Elanna and I rode the 40 mile route, and while we were not THE last people to finish, we were close, there was a police car following us for the last few miles so they could close the route after we were done.

The guy who runs bicyle-stuff.com took lots of pictures and we ended up in a few.

There were some professional photographers there as well taking pictures of everyone, but they haven't posted the proofs yet.

This weeked we are doing the Collin Classic Ride!

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
