Slate Magazine has produced an online Graphic Novel that llustrates the 9/11 commision report. It's pretty intresting. It looks like it's still in progress as it only goes up through Chapter 8 right now.
August 2006 Archives
Yes it's that time of year again. The totality of geekdom will converge on downtown Atlanta for DragonCon.
I downloaded the schedule and everything I want to see seems to be happening at 4pm everyday. Multiple things in fact. Friday will be very hectic, I want to see the TrekTrack show, which I've missed in past years but have heard is very cool. Then I somehow have to find a ride to the nearest groery store, buy stuff for the party, order pizza for the party and have it all setup. In under 2 hours. I'm guess I won't get to even see the dealers room till Saturday, maybe even Sunday.
I spent nearly all day yesterday either at the airport or on plane. My flight was supposed to leave White Plains, NY at 6 AM, so I got to the airport by 4:30. After sitting on the Runway for 2 hours we were told the flight was cancelled, because there was a huge storm over Chicago. I wanted in line for an hour for American to get my flight rebooked on Northwest so I could get home by going through Detroit. I then waited in line ANOTHER hour to get checked in on Northwest. I finally left NY at around 12:30 and got back to Dallas around 5 PM.
While I was sitting in the airport I had plenty of time to read Wired magazine. Here’s some cool stuff I found that might interest you:
Negadon: A 25 Minute all CGI film in the style of Godzilla.

The TED Prize.
I’d never heard of this. It stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design and is given to innovators and visionaries in one of these three areas. Some of the people who have won a are truly amazing. Winners get one wish, which the TED foundation attempts to grant.
A website to keep track of your favorite websites, keeps a running hotlist of the most favorite sites on the web.
I really do mean to post more, but somehow I never get around to it. I blame video games.
I'm in Upstate New York right now installing a wireless network for one of our customers. It's very nice here, high of 84 low of 65. Much better than the 105 I left in Dallas.
This past weekend was the Bachelor Party. Thanks again to everyone for making a great time! We had margaritas and Mexican food at Joe T's, then stopped by a friend’s house for a few more drinks, then headed over to New Orleans Nights for Bachelor Party Traditions. Fun was had by all, especially me. And for the record I DID NOT throw up out the window of the van on the way home, that's a vicious vicious lie.
I actually wrote down a whole list of things to blog about while on the plane yesterday. I then left the list in the Rental Car downstairs so they'll have to wait. I think only one or two of them had to do with Roleplaying or Video Games even.
We went back home to Tulsa this past weekend to finish up the wedding stuff and see the family. The location got a little more money out of us but that was expected. They really nickel and dime you for all the little "extras" that they know everyone will want anyway. Everything is on track though. All the big stuff is taken care of, now we just have to get all the little things done. Decide on music, the ceremony, how we want to set things up, etc.
Elanna got good news today, not only is her consulting contract renewed through February, but someone may finally want to buy her house! Here's hoping!
There's a new video coming coming out called Saint's Row. You have to put in your birthdate to get past the first screen but let me assure you it is entirely WORTH IT! I'm not sure what made me laugh harder the pimp withthe RPG or the Plus size "female entertainer" in the background. I can't take full credit for find this gem, Penny Arcade already made fun of it.
I have been searching for something to blog about this week , in vain, of course. I did finish my latest masters degree course, somehow pulling out an "A" at the last minute. The course was over "Trusted Systems" which is all about how to build a really really secure computing system. Which, of course, no one needs, except the feds, so it let me sum it up by saying it was BORING. I am taking next semester off due to the wedding and honeymoon. I'm halfway done with the degree now, only 5 Courses left. Which translates into about another year and a half.
