June 2006 Archives

I'm getting ready for my Birthday Celebrations this weekend. Halo and his wife will be in town tomorrow afternoon along with Goku. Elanna and I have been busy cleaning the house an preparing everything for the weekend. Friday night the whole crew is going to the Bavarian Grill for German Food and Beer and Saturday is the Big Birthday Bash and Pool Party! Then I'm off to Arkansas for 3 days to meet the rest of Elanna's Family.

Saturday is my actual Birthday btw, I'll be 34. :)

Well I had two great links I was going share yesterday so i'd actually have something to write about but then I got busy and didn't have time to blog. Now I've forgotten what one of the links was, just no idea at all. I even looked in my browser history, nothing.

I did remeber one of them though. Here is an article from rpg.net discussing why you see tons and tons of RPG rulesbooks and not many adventures.

I responded to the article. My repsonse can be summed up as "Look goofballs if you want me to buy your game write some damn adventures for it." I got a reply from the author, which is one of the cool things about rpg.net, but he didn't really respond to any of my points.

I swear the other link I was going to write about was both more interesting and less geeky but there ya go.

Oh for the days of Daily Blogging

I guess I really should make the effort to try and write something everyday even if it is crap. My posting is slipping to once a week. I haven't been doing too much. Last Friday went to Dinner with Demi, Khuul and his new girlfriend, at least think she's his girlfriend. Seems to be in any case. Nothing much Saturday, the weekly pool party was cancelled due to a freak rainstorm. I say freak because it never ever rains here except on a weekend. Elanna and I went to see Shakespeare in the Park with Phlome, Ninsi, and the Squid. It was a lot of fun. I'd never seen the Tempest performed live before and it was really good. Sunday I had planned on helping Reptile move into his new house but the former owners were lazy and hadn't moved out yet. That seems to be the norm when you buy a house, the same thing happend to me when I bought my house.

Well it's not that I haven't had much time to post it's just I haven't come up with anything good to write about. Yes the dreaded "blog-block." I haven't been doing too much latley, which is really okay with me. I've been so busy over the past few months it's nice to just do nothing. Direct TV did tell me that my tress were too big and that's why I can't get a signal anymore. Which sucks cause now I have to go back to crappy comcast cable. Verizon is supposed to be doing some kind of Digital TV service soon, so maybe I can switch to that.

I did start playing WOW (Akama, Alliance, Xoran) again, it's a little stale after 2 years but still fun. The upcoming expansion should really breathe some new life into it.

All my geeky friends and relatives should appreciate this.

I thought it was damn funny myself.

No It's not what you think. Ever wanted to compare the size of an X-Wing to Serenity or Have you ever asked yourself "Just how big is a Ring World?" Well Look no Further, I give you the Starship Size Comparison Website.

NIN

This past Saturday I went to the NIN concert here in Dallas with Phlome,Ninsi, Khuul, Donut And Demi. This is the second time the group has come to Dallas. I had already seen them at the beginning of the tour over a year ago in Austin. At the the time there were no Dallas dates, then of course he ends up coming here twice. I think this must have been some kind of special show, or maybe just very near the end of the tour. The first time I saw them they played almost every song off the new "With Teeth" Album. This time was almost a greatest hits show. He played all thier "hits" as well as a lot of songs from older Albums like Pretty Hate Machine. They even did "Burn" from the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack, which I've never heard live. It was a great show even if it was at the crappy Starplex Venue. I think bands play there cause they can pack in A LOT of cheap tickets on the grass.

I found this today. A comedy troupe in NY dressed up a bunch of people as Best Buy Employees and then "hung=out" in a local Best Buy. The management was not amused.

They also have an annual "No Pants on the Subway" day. I somehow feel that if Donut lived in NY he would be all about that.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
