The Flood Begins

Evey year at this time the Game companies relase all thier news games so that can make that all-impiortant Christmas Shopping season. I'm completly swamped whith titles right now. I've got Fable, Disgaea, and Madden 2005 from Gamefly. I just had to buy Warhammer 40000:Dawn of War. X-men:Legends just came out. It's like BG:Dark Alliance but with Superheroes! I finally managed to get a hold of a copy of Culdcept, AND I still haven't played Doom 3, and It's only October!

I already knew this...

but now we have statistics to confirm it. People who watch "The Daily Show" are just plain smarter. Of course as an additional note I don't think anyone needed statistics to confirm that Bill O'Reilly is a moron. Oh BTW Did you know that the Daily show won a Peabody Award? It's the Pulitzer for Broadcasting.

All the while I'm waiting and everyone else is revving thier ATVs, these guys are working on an ATV over in the corner. All of a sudden they slap the engine back together start it up and say to me "Here ya go!" The Cruise

Well I wanted to do an entry on my cruise today but there is so much to tell and I'm not really in the mood for writing a book today. I will say that I had a LOT of fun and maybe...just maybe drank a lot too. Hey it's not my fault the Coronas are $1 in Mexico. I also made lots of new friends. Hello to everyone from San Diego, Ohio, Indiana, and Texas!

I'm in Chicago right now. Yes that's right folks I got to be home for a whole DAY! I was dreading it till I got here but now it's fine. It always goes by fast while I'm on the road.

I'm on Vacation!

I almost forgot to wrtite this entry, which would have been bad cause I probably would have been kicked out of the blog-o-sphere and the webring for not posting for over a week. Well, probably not but I would have gotten some rude comments I'm sure. I'm off to cruise around the western carribean for the next week. My first real Vacation in over 2 years. I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures to share when I get back, most of them featuring me wearing a goofy island shirt and/or hat with a large fruity drink in my hand, a "boat drink" if you know what that means. ;)

Liquid Crack

As you may have read over on Phlome's page. The City of Irving, had a vote this weekend to determine if Beer and Wine could be sold locally. Irving has pretty weirdo liquor laws to begin with, that somehow allow Bars but not Liquor stores. The Vote didn't pass so no Beer and wine in Irving in the near future. Maybe this postcard, I got in the mail last Friday, reminding me to vote no, convinced everyone that Beer, wine, and most importantly "Malt Liquor" (known on the streets as liquid crack) was a bad thing for Irving. I was cracking up for hours over the postcard. The really funny thing is that I would have forgotten about the whole thing completely had I not gotten the card, which reminded me to go vote "YES." Maybe I should be thankful it didn't pass, now I don't have "loiterers" infesting my neighborhood.

Okay i just had to share this as well, Dubya is more than a little weird. Btw you need QT to view that link.

DragonCon 2004 Pictures

Okay I finally got around to sorting through all the DragonCon pictures and posting the ones I liked. I also updated the camportal page with Redhead's picture she sent me a while back. Ohknats you are dagerously close to having whatever picture I can find used for your Camportal picture.

Do you have a flag?

Well as you can see I still haven't gotten around to posting my Dragoncon pictures. Looking good for it to happen tonight as I don't have any real plans to do anything this evening. I did quite a lot this weekend however.

Friday I went to see Hero, a very good martial arts movie, unlike some others I could mention. Saturday, I went to the TCU SMU game and the acompanying tailgate party. I had to "force" myself to drink all the beer I brought before the game, as you are not allowed to carry it into the stadium. They also had some very cool signs that said "No Beer Kegs Allowed" all around the parking area. I need one of those to hang on the door of my keg fridge. Alas, they were way to big, and way to many campus police around for me to snatch one.

Sunday , a friend and I went to "Grapefest" in Grapevine. It's a yearly wine-themed festival. It was your standard festival with crafts, beer, festival food, and of course local wines. It was way too hot to stay very long, however. I did find a neat little bar that I'm going to have to go back to called Tap-In, which boasts "Fried Cheese Stuffed Olives" as an appetizer.

Dragoncon 2004 Links

The people who both attend and put on DragonCon are very "plugged-in" to the internet. Everyone is giving out cards with websites or posting thier websites on walls and flyers. Here are some interesting links I collected.

The DragonCon Homepage
Dragoncon TV - They were responsible for all the multimedia at Dragoncon, including some very funny slideshows and TV Commercials.
Dragoncon Pictures- suppposedly you can upload your DragonCon pics to this site. I haven't looked into it much yet.
Abbyshot - Custom-made costumes to order, including Neo's Coat from the Matrix and Jay and Silent Bob outfits.
MetalDude- This guy makes AMAZING Sculptures from metal odds and ends. I resisted the urge to buy an $85 metal Godzilla.
Titan Games - They had just about every game you could think of for sale, including many out of print ones.
Corsetshop.net This place has some very nice corsets. Ask Ninsi, she bought one.
SpatCave - Spat designs and builds all kinds of costumes and props. He's repsonsible for almost all of the Stormtrooper and Colonial Marine Armor that you see at DragonCon.
Aliens Pulse Rifle And if you REALLY want to be a Colonial Marine, you can buy a working replica pusle rifle here for the low low price of $1500. I think Spat will make you a non-functioning one cheaper.
CruxShadows - Thier DragonCon concert this year was great if not really really late, go buy the new album.

Phlome put up some DragonCon Pictures today. Be sure to check out two of the best costmes I've seen , The MAXX and Dr. Goldteeth and his band.

Dragoncon Plus One

Okay I 'm back from DragonCon. I have stories, quotes, pictures, links and much more to talk about. I'm sure Ninsi and Phlome will have the own reports as well. I'll try and get it all organized and and start putting stuff up later today.

Here's some quotes from the weekend. I need to get these in before I forget more of them. There are quite a few good ones I've forgotten already.

"Is that real?" "Yes, it's a real live Marmot."
"Hey Baby, My Dragon likes your Dragon." (Think Dragonriders of Pern.)
"Did you ask me if I had room in my suitcase for a fruitcake and boots?"

Random funny questions from the Babylon 5 panel:

Fan: " Who would win in a fight between Marcus and Darth Maul?"
Jason Carter (Marcus) : "Well since I am an ACTOR and Ray Park (Darth Maul) is an actual martial artist, he might have a slight advantage."

Fan: " What question have you never been asked but would like to be?"
Jason Carter: "So what you are saying is that you don't have a question and you want me to make one up for myself."

From the Firefly panel:

Fan to Adam Baldwin: " How do you deal with being more famous than the other actors but not the Main Character of the show?"
Adam Baldwin: " I'm not the main character?"

Fan: "It's my birthday, could you sing the Firefly theme to me?"
Adam Baldwin: "Can't we just sing you happy birthday?"
(They did end up singing the first few lines of the song.)

Dragoncon Minus 1

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
