Dead Email

Well my email has been dead or spotty since last Friday so if you have sent me email anytime since then I may not have gotten it. So if you did, and I didn't answer, I'm not ignoring you, my mailserver is.

okay here's something for you, a webcomic that's not really funny till the last panel then it's hilarious.

DragonCon Minus 4

As Ninsi pointed out we are now 4 days and counting to DragonCon. The "pocket program" is now up on the website. I suggest all of my crew should download it and take a look, maybe even print it out, though it is 112 pages! It contains some very useful information, like the hotels bars close at midnight on Sunday. Perish the thought!

Imporant Times to remember:
Saturday 10 AM DragonCon Parade (No wonder we missed it last year. 10 AM!)
Saturday 8:30 PM Dawn Costume Contest
Sunday 8:30 PM Masquerade at the Atlanta Civic Center (I've never gotten to see this.)
Sunday 10:30 PM Cruxshadows Concert (Note NOT SATURDAY)
Monday 12:30 AM Gothic Masquerade (First Annual, sponsored by White Wolf, goth costume contest!)

UPDATE
Apparently there will be Poker in the Con Suite starting at Midnight on Friday!

DragonCon Minus 7

Only seven Days till DragonCon! I'm not sure what all I want to see but the CruxShadows concert is not to be missed and, if she actually shows up, I will attempt to have something signed by Anne McCaffery.

My arm is doing better today but it still hurts. The Doctor gave me some Celebrex and Vikaden. The Celebrex did nothing and I haven't tried a Vikaden yet. I figure I should be home with no plans to do anything for a bit if I take one of those.

I did FINALLY get a camera phone yesterday, so I may have a photo-blog of sorts going soon. Don't hold your breath. Speaking of pictures, Redhead is the only one who has provided me with suitable pictures for the Camportal. I think Weljim's blog is dead but 'Nats needs to get on it.

Speaking of DragonCon it looks like they are showing Ju-On and Ju-On 2 Neko. :)

Back now

Well I'm back in the Big D. A little worse for wear. My left shoulder is in what can only be described as "horriffic" pain. I'm not sure why but it hurt bad enough to keep me up till 4am last night. I took so much ibuprofen that it gave me heartburn and still no reduction in the pain. I figure it time to get a professional involved at this point and hey maybe I'll get some GOOD painkillers out of the deal. It hurts somewhat less today but still enough that I won't be able to sleep much if it continues.

Elsewhere Echris, has a new dog, and I know you are all fans of cute dogs so here ya go, Noch and another of Noch. (pronounced nawsh)

Travel is my life

Maybe by the end of this entry I'll have come up with a title. I'm back from OK or rather I was. I got in to Dallas Sunday Evening only to fly out for Baltimore Monday evening, which is where I am now. Hey I got to be home for more than 24 hours. Woo. Hmm this past weekend? Not much to say really, hung out with friends and family in OK. DragonCon is coming up in less than 2 weeks so everyone is getting excited about that, though I've not started packing already, like Ninsi and Phlome. I think I may go buy some new Leather Pants this weekend, my other ones are a year old now and getting a little worn.

Martial Arts Action

I can't belive more people didn't comment on the History of D&D. I thought it was fascinating, though I am a huge uber-geek in that area.

I watched Kill Bill 2 last night, quite a few people told it it was better than the first one, which I thought was rather long and boring. Sad to say I like this one even less. It's a very "quaint" homage to Martial Arts movies but as a movie in and of itself it's kinda long and boring. The second one didn't even have any good fight scenes and the final Battle with Bill was a real let down. I mean really, here we had 4 hours of build-up and she just punches him in the chest? *sigh*

Now Hero, which comes out next friday looks to be an exquisite martial arts movie. I will definitely be seeing it.

In gaming news, Dawn of War, the Warhammer 40K RTS game is now in an open beta. It say the Beta is closed but I applied for a code and got one so It's not really closed yet. You can sign-up here.

And last but not least NeverWinter Nights 2! Oh yeah....

D&D and the Business of Gaming

Gamespy has a whole series of articles on the history of Dungeons and Dragons and TSR (the company that used to make D&D before Wizards of the Coast bought them.) It's fairly interesting to see the story behind a company that has an extremely powerful brand but no real idea what to do with it. I think it's interesting to note that the pains that TSR went through before being bought by wizards of the coast and becoming a real business is similar to what Game Workshop is going through right now. Namely, making a lot of weirdo business decisions because the people at the top aren't real business people.

In other news, the home health care worker is visiting with Dad today. So far He seems to like having someone here.

Okay I'll make some time to blog

Well this is the third time I've sat down to write a blog entry so maybe I'll make it through it this time. My Dad is doing well. He was having some problems with his Medication but we got that straightend out. I also got it setup so that a nurse comes to see him twice a week and a home health worker will come three days a week, which I think will work out pretty well. Pretty busy here in OK as I'm trying to work remotely as well as get everything set up for Dad. I haven't done anything to fun this week so far. I watched "Big Fish" the other night, which I thought was good, but predictable.

Headin to OK

Well I'm back from Baltimore for 1 day only. I'm headin out for Tulsa tonight, looks like I'll be there for a while. My father isn't doing as well as he has been and I need to stay with him for a little while. Amazingly enough, I DON'T have to go to Baltimore next week so it all works out pretty well. I was already planning on going to Tulsa next weekend so I'll be staying through then for sure. So probably spotty blogging entries for the next week or so...:)

Baltimore Again

Yes I'm in Baltimore and I have a really spotty internet connection so not much blogging this week. Oh and I just like to point out to the blogstopo that I didn't miss 4 days. I posted Friday, Saturday and Sunday don't count, and I missed Monday, so that's only 1 day. NYAH! Anyway Baltimore is exciting as ever. It looks like I may be going to Tulsa and miss the Big Poker tournanment this weekend. Those that need to know will know why soon enough. You guys will have to get $50 off me some other way. :)

Webcomics

The question of what webcomics I read came up in conversation yesterday so I thought I would list them for all to see. Most of htem have to do with video games and such.

PVP
Penny Arcade
Dork Tower
Ctrl+ALT+DEL
Dilbert
GU
Nodwick
Mac Hall
Spells and Whistles

On a more administrative note, I need pictures from Redhead, WelJim, and ohknats for the Camportal. You get the same intructions as everyone else, if you don't send me one, I'll use one I have already, which I do, of all of you, think about it......

Paranormal Investigations

Okay So I'm not a paranormal investigator, but I often have that outlook when looking at newstories and such. I blame too many years of reading horror RPG books and HP Lovecraft novels. I bring this up now because, this story is obviously the end result of a dire plot that cries out to be investigated. I mean why the heck was the groundkeeper in his car!?!This story is a good example of how all cult busting activities end up. The cops arrest a lot of people who have an unhealthy interest in fresh body parts.

You laugh, but both of these stories were headlines when I came into work this morning and now they are buried. I had to search CNN to get the links.

7 Hour Conference Call

I am on a 7-Hour conference call today. It's really a seven hour meeting somewhere else, but there is a conference bridge for remote people to listen in.
The really sad thing is that this isn't even the longest one I've ever been on, I was on a 12 hour call one time. It started at 8 AM and goes till 3. I'm really hoping it will be over earlier, but it doesn't sound like it. The people in the actual meeting are haivng lunch catered in. I guess I'll just have to mute my phone and eat lunch or something. Maybe I'll entertain myself by doing blog updates throughout the day.

So far they have discussed the "win" strategy and when to announce the alliance team partners. woo

Update
The Bridge went down for an hour so i got a breif respite. They got it back up though so now I'm listening again. I can't really hear anything though. At least I'm taking it from home. I did the dishes and now I'm eating some leftover pizza.

Dear Lord, has it already been a month. It seems like I just did this.

For the Month of July, I had 2289 unique visitors, up 12 from last month. Let's here it for the 12 new people!

The most popular entry for this month was the Birthday Pics entry.

In the Battle of the Refererrs Bunny came out on top again with the rest the spehere ranking like this:
Ninsianna
Phlome
Neko
Hagrok
QT KT
Furious Jessy
Non-Girlfriend
DeMiGoBlIn
Redhead
Wickkett

That's a huge jump for you Hag. :)

And now everyones favorite Part, What search phrases found my page:
Thankfully, the phrase "Channel Zero" is again the number one phrase, followed closely by "toee crack". Again people I'VE NEVER HAD ONE OR EVEN KNOW OF ONE. Temple of Elemental Evil has gotta be in the bargain bin by now just go buy the damn thing. Now here's a weird one that made the top ten, "saxsons". No idea really.....

Here's some of the funnier ones:

conjunctionjunction porn (AGAIN!)
channel zero el guapo (Damn right)
salad bar for rent in dallas-tx
violent trix the rabbit flash movie
rhinos humping

This weekend

Ninsi has summed up the weekend at Shady Manor pretty well. I got to meet sleepwalker and her BF, Luigi and I had a friend down for the weekend as well. My friend and I went to see the Village while everyone else did the Dallas-tour thing. Very good, in my opinion . It is eveything you expect from an M. Night movie but different enough to be original. It's not really as scary as the previews make it out to be, more a 6th sense level of creepiness than a Signs level of outright scary.

And since I know you all are just dying for some Video Game News, DOOM 3 drops tomorrow, so run out and buy it if you're into the 3D shooter scene. The screenshots I've seen look impressive. I'm still heavily involved with Front Mission 4 and City of Heroes, so it'll have to wait for a bit. Farcry filled my 3D shooter void for a bit.

And elsewhere, some people are way to dedicated to their fast food.

Reading

I just finshed Codelia's Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold which is the first book of the Vorkosigan Saga.
Very good book, but the Sci-Fi bits are really secondary to the story.

Right now I'm reading The Lost Fleet Series by John Hemry/Jack Campbell It's sorta Honor Harrington but not really, though Honor Harrington even goes downhill in the later novels.
